To lock, push in a privacy button on the inside and the outside lever locks. To open, simply turn the inside lever down and the lock will open automatically! Outside escutcheon plate has emergency access port to open the door in the case of an emergency. This set will NOT fit a standard door preparation having 2-1/8 inch cross bore holes. Only a 11/16 & 1/4 inch hole is required. 1 inch door edge hole for latch. Privacy has a 2-3/8 inch backset (Distance from the edge of the door to the center of the 11/16 inch hole in the face of the door). This set will fit a RIGHT HAND 1-3/8 inch thick door. Door handing is determined when standing outside, facing the door, if the hinges are on the left, it is a left hand door. If on the right, a right hand door. If you have 1-3/4 inch thick doors please advise us so we can send you the correct hardware to fit a 1-3/4 inch thick door. Also available in passage, full dummy and keyed entry.
